A year in pictures

This year has been the hardest of my life. So much loss, so much pain. But there have been other memories too. Here are some

The last drink I’ve ever had was New Years Eve 2012. Haven’t had one since. I never thought it would suit me. It does

Living in squalor has been very much part of my year.

No really, it has. Renovations suck.

But I found a way to find pretty things in life. These are the prettiest brownies I’ve ever seen.

20131227-214203.jpgAnd buying a juicer changed my life

I became a British citizen. That was pretty cool.

But going home always fills me with hope

And DH’s gift to me on the hardest birthday of my life was spent well at a no-talking outdoor spa. Exactly what I needed

Being at home, outdoors, is always cathartic

Finding moments of beauty amongst the loss

And receiving love from others in the depths of loss

Escaping the pit of loss allowed us to heal and recharge even briefly

20131227-214834.jpgIf there is a sunset I’m almost always watching it

Finding little treats of life within our little garden was a happy moment

As are savouring precious moments with my furbaby as he smothers DH

I hope next year I will have a few more to add.

  1. Beautiful pictures. Where’s home to you? Being home in Ireland and being able to see and hear the sea has been great. Better than the hum of the M11 and North Circular in London!

    • Amen to that! I know that hum! Canada is home for me although I’ve been gone for so long. I feel very much at home in both Ireland and Wales too. It’s something about the sea… xx

    • You so do. It was amazing. You know that feeling when peeps get in a jacuzzi with you and you’re thinking great, they’re about to ruin my experience with some lame dumbass story? It just simply did not happen. Bliss!

  2. Lovely photos and how wonderful that you are able to find beauty in life despite the loss. Hoping that 2014 will bring you more and more. I myself went through a renovation last year. I understand the pain.

  3. Your pictures are so beautiful. I love how you did a recap of the year through pictures. I started photography after my 2nd loss and I just feel like photographs can express so much when I can’t. Thank you for sharing.

  4. Beautiful, Lisette! I am glad you found some ways to smile in such a hard year. Praying that 2014 gives you many more reasons to smile than to not. Hugs, girl. Cheers to 2014!

  5. Gorgeous photos, and beautiful sentiment to go with them. I hope 2014 will bring many more moments of joy and beauty to your days (and much less sadness). Those brownies are…I just want to eat them and put them in a frame all at the same time.
